As a beginning of the year "team building" activity, I have my students pick their own classroom rules and expectations. Below are some examples of expectations past groups of students have come up with. These would be printed out in a similar format and displayed in the classroom.
According to Linda Shalaway, students are more likely to buy into and abide by rules they actively took part in creating. For more information please view her article "Creating Classroom Rules Together".
Below is a chart to dictate the order of disciplinary measure regarding inappropriate classroom behavior as well as a grid to discern minor and major behavior.
